About this Content
Aims
To enhance environmental hygiene using Germicidal UVC light for secondary disinfection to reduce HAIs.
Background
Manual cleaning processes have limitations, including missed areas and long chemical contact times.
Methods
Introduced UVC machines for targeted disinfection; tested effectiveness with photovoltaics stickers on high-touch surfaces.
Results
Achieved 4-log reduction in bioburden; 13 of 14 test points showed effectiveness, except areas obstructed from UV exposure.
Conclusion
UVC technology significantly enhances cleaning effectiveness, improves environmental hygiene, and reduces HAIs.
Lessons Learnt
Proper training and strategic machine placement are critical for successful implementation.
Additional Information
Recognized for improving patient safety through advanced disinfection methods.
