Aims
To reduce MRSA acquisition rates in wards using individual disposable and reusable BP cuffs.
Background
Shared BP cuffs contributed to MRSA spread due to improper cleaning and contamination.
Methods
Introduced disposable cuffs for MRSA patients and reusable cuffs for non-infectious patients. Conducted staff training and implemented infection control measures.
Results
Reduced MRSA cases to 0 in targeted wards over 12 weeks; improved staff and patient satisfaction.
Conclusion
Individual BP cuffs significantly reduce healthcare-associated infections and enhance patient safety.
Lessons Learnt
Proper equipment usage and infection control practices prevent MRSA transmission effectively.
