Aims
Train at least 80% of General Ward nurses to confidently manage Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD).
Background
General Ward nurses lacked proper training to manage CVADs, resulting in underutilization of these devices, which are critical for patients with difficult peripheral venous access.
Methods
Provided Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions for ICU Nursing Outreach Team, followed by competency assessments and hands-on training for General Ward nurses.
Results
95% of General Ward nurses reported being confident in managing CVADs post-training, improving patient care.
Conclusion
The training program improved the General Ward nurses' skills in managing CVADs, leading to better patient outcomes.
Lessons Learnt
A systematic, multi-phase training program ensured practical competence, and ongoing support increased nurse confidence in CVAD management.
