Aims
To implement the NGEMR system in IMH as part of the national system using EPIC in NHG and NUHS clusters.
Background
IMH being the only psychiatric hospital in Singapore, had to customise EPIC to a certain extent. Later on in IMHs journey to launch NGEMR, the implementation become Big3 with 2 other national systems (NHIPS and NBS) to go-live together with NGEMR. This added to the challenge of implementation. IMH became the first brown-site institution to go live with Big3 systems.
The implementation was part of a larger initiative involving other national systems.
Methods
The OCI team, led by Dr. Eu Pui Wai, collaborated with NHGHQ and Synapxe to customize and implement the NGEMR system.
Results
IMH became the first brown-site institution to go live with the Big3 systems, including NGEMR.
Conclusion
The successful implementation of NGEMR at IMH demonstrates the feasibility of customizing EPIC for specialty hospitals.
Lessons Learnt
The implementation of NGEMR alongside other national systems added to the challenge, highlighting the complexity of integrating multiple systems.
Additional Information
The NGEMR implementation was part of a national effort to enhance electronic medical records using EPIC, which is highly acclaimed in the United States.
