About this Content
Aims
Provide vital signs measurement through a DIY health station, offering free, quick, and simple access to health monitoring in the community.
Background
Many seniors do not regularly check their vital signs, leading to delayed medical attention and worsening conditions. Traditional methods require assistance and do not promote self-monitoring.
Methods
A user-friendly health station was developed, enabling seniors to measure their health in less than 4 minutes. The system records data automatically and uses a simple interface with large fonts and clear icons for accessibility.
Results
Usage increased from 50 to 490 times per month, saving approximately 1,760 minutes monthly. Repeat users rose from 30 to 153.
Conclusion
IM-HEALTHY empowers seniors to monitor their health, promotes preventive care, and improves public health awareness. Future improvements will focus on user experience and integration with health services.
Lessons Learnt
Understanding user pain points and designing a senior-friendly interface are key to adoption. Change management strategies, including campaigns and senior champions, influence adoption rates.
