Address loneliness among nursing home residents through intergenerational activities fostering friendships.
Background
59.6% of nursing home residents in Singapore report loneliness; intergenerational programs abroad show positive outcomes.
Methods
Conducted a 3D2N camp pairing residents and students in one-to-one activities, including outings, baking, and treasure hunts.
Results
89% of residents reported positive experiences; 40% of students returned as regular volunteers.
Conclusion
Positive relationships formed during the program improve social well-being and inspire community spirit.
Lessons Learnt
Sustainability depends on student volunteer support and continuous program innovation to manage space constraints.
