About this Content
Aims
Our aim is to increase staff awareness to reduce energy consumption and cut paper usage by 20% within next year (2024), supporting the hospital’s Green Plan for a sustainable environment.
Background
NTFGH hospital operates 24/7, consuming substantial energy, contributing to CO2 emissions. The Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC) operates only during office hours, presenting opportunities for sustainability improvements.
Methods
Identify issues such as unnecessary energy consumption and paper usage, implement changes like powering off equipment, using pictorial signs, QR codes for brochures, and digitalizing roll call minutes via Microsoft Teams.
Results
Energy consumption was 10,0000kWh/month before implementation. Expenses on printing service brochures were $41,206 per year (2022) and on A4 copier paper $3,070 per year (2023).
Conclusion
Implementing these changes can significantly reduce energy consumption and paper usage, contributing to the hospital's sustainability goals.
Lessons Learnt
Everyone can play a part for a Green sustainable environment by doing minor behavior change in their daily activities.
