Aims
To develop a sensory therapeutic garden together with clients
Background
Chronic sick residents faced challenges due to sudden health changes, limited autonomy, and communication barriers. Families struggled with anticipatory grief.
Methods
Developed therapeutic garden in stages starting with seed planting, later moving to the garden plot. Clients selected plants based on their functional ability
Results
Clients showed positive emotional engagement, resulting in a sensory therapeutic garden enjoyed by both clients and staff
Conclusion
Enhanced sense of community and active participation through sensory therapeutic gardening
Lessons Learnt
Structured reminiscence and family bonding sessions improved emotional well-being of families. Future expansion of garden is planned
