Aims
To create a system-directed process for tracking short-expiry drugs in e-kits to minimize drug wastage.
Background
Manual tracking of e-kits led to inefficiencies and drug wastage due to expired medications.
Methods
Implemented Redcap, an institutional research database, to track e-kit data.
Results
Eliminated expired drugs in 131 e-kits, avoided $16,022 in costs, and saved 570 annual nursing hours.
Conclusion
Digital transformation of e-kit management ensures safety, efficiency, and cost savings.
Lessons Learnt
Technology enables efficiency, cost savings, and better resource management.
