About this Content
Aims
Explore caregiver experiences and coping strategies while caring for clients with schizophrenia.
Background
Caregivers play a critical role in transitioning clients with schizophrenia from hospitals to communities. However, limited research explores both caregiving experiences and coping strategies.
Methods
Conducted a systematic review of 11 primary studies using the Joanna Briggs Institute’s search process and critical appraisal tools.
Results
Identified four themes: negative caregiving experiences, impacts on caregiver lives, positive caregiving experiences, and coping strategies.
Conclusion
Understanding caregiver experiences can aid in building therapeutic relationships and educating them on effective caregiving skills.
Lessons Learnt
Nurses should actively engage caregivers, providing updates, training, and moral support to enhance patient care and caregiver well-being.
