COVID surveillance increased delays in hip fracture surgeries, potentially worsening patient outcomes.
Methods
Standardized protocols for swabs, expedited pre-op assessments, and implemented fast-tracked workflows.
Results
Surgery within 48 hours increased to 57% (from 33% pre-intervention); reduced length of stay by 3 days.
Conclusion
Improved outcomes and reduced delays for COVID surveillance patients undergoing hip fracture surgery.
Lessons Learnt
Multidisciplinary collaboration and expedited workflows ensured protocol success despite COVID constraints.
