Aims
Develop a patient-centered rehabilitation pathway for total knee arthroplasty patients to reduce length of hospital stay.
Background
Patients in Singapore stayed 4-5 days for knee arthroplasty compared to outpatient surgery abroad.
Methods
Piloted ERAS package, pre-op education, and home visits, and partnered with NTUC Health for sustainability.
Results
Reduced average hospital stay from 4.55 to 2.92 days by 2022; high patient satisfaction with early discharge and home care.
Conclusion
The ERAS program is a sustainable model that reduces hospital bed occupancy and enhances recovery.
Lessons Learnt
Collaborative efforts and patient-centered approaches improve outcomes and satisfaction.
