Financial assistance work in the MSW department was limited by high demand, resulting in MSWs being overburdened with administrative work.
Methods
Up-skilling SWAs to handle financial assistance cases, allowing MSWs to focus on more complex psychosocial cases
Results
SWAs handling 40% of Medifund applications saved MSWs a full-time equivalent, improving overall service efficiency
Conclusion
Improved patient care and staff satisfaction by allowing MSWs to focus on more complex cases
Lessons Learnt
Clear communication, structured training, and gradual role implementation are essential in workforce redesign
