About this Content
Aims
Educate and equip ICU nurses with the skills to perform CAM-ICU scoring for early delirium detection and timely management.
Background
Delirium affects up to 80% of critically ill ICU patients, leading to prolonged ICU stays, higher mortality, and cognitive decline.
Methods
Interactive lectures, “Train the Trainer” workshops, pre/post intervention surveys, and patient outcome tracking.
Results
Nurse knowledge improved significantly (scores increased from 55.1% to 74.4%), and time to delirium management was reduced by 55%.
Conclusion
CAM-ICU education empowered ICU nurses to detect delirium early, improving patient outcomes and care continuity.
Lessons Learnt
Training enhances confidence and collective readiness, but continuous audits are required to sustain CAM-ICU compliance.
