Aims
Reduce ALOS, hospital costs, and mortality rates for emergency laparotomy patients.
Background
Emergency laparotomy is associated with high morbidity and mortality, requiring urgent multidisciplinary care.
Methods
Implemented eight-part intervention bundles, focused on high-priority changes using Pareto analysis.
Results
ALOS reduced by 2.3 days; mean inpatient cost decreased by 20%; 30-day mortality reduced by 6.11%.
Conclusion
Sustainable changes introduced through collaboration across clinical teams.
Lessons Learnt
Multidisciplinary collaboration and structured quality improvement approaches are critical.
