Aims
To investigate the effects of Humanitude training on healthcare staff burnout, empathy and attitude towards dementia.
Background
Dementia care presents challenges for HCPs, including burnout and job dissatisfaction. Humanitude emphasizes dignity, communication, and autonomy.
Methods
One-group pre-test post-test design involving 156 HCPs receiving 5-day Humanitude training, with validated self-reported measures at pre and 6-month post-training.
Results
Reduced burnout, increased empathy, and positive attitudes towards dementia care. Improvements sustained 6 months post-training.
Conclusion
Humanitude training improved HCP well-being, potentially enhancing dementia care outcomes.
Lessons Learnt
Humanitude benefits validated internationally and locally, recommended for integration into healthcare education and diverse care settings.
