Aims
Provide bread for patients who prefer softer food without swallowing problems.
Background
Bread was not available for patients on softer diets (non-dysphagic), causing workflow delays.
Methods
Audited diet processes, tested steamed bread, and included it as a permanent menu item in EMOS.
Results
Patient satisfaction improved; messages about bread requests dropped to zero; workflow simplified, saving 6.6 hours/month.
Conclusion
Bread was successfully added as a permanent option for "Easy to Chew" diets, enhancing satisfaction.
Lessons Learnt
Multidisciplinary teamwork ensured patient needs were balanced with safety and workflow improvements.
