About this Content
Aims
Develop a low-cost solution to manage PAC’s rising workload and identify low-risk patients remotely.
Background
PAC workloads increased while manpower remained stagnant; low-risk patients consumed resources unnecessarily.
Methods
Developed an ePASS questionnaire on FormSG, integrated telephone screening (TPS) for low-risk patients, and conducted iterative PDSA cycles.
Results
Reduced PAC workload by 230 patients in 6 months; saved $64,500 annually in manpower and $108,446 in consultation fees.
Conclusion
ePASS reduced PAC workload, improved efficiency, and provided cost-effective, patient-centric care.
Lessons Learnt
Simple, low-cost IT solutions can address workload issues when combined with structured feedback and process optimization.
Additional Information
Scalable solution to other specialties for reducing outpatient workload using self-reported data.
