Aims
Quickly identify risks, implement mitigation measures, and ensure care on-site while reducing hospital strain.
Background
COVID-19 outbreak in dormitories posed a high risk of overwhelming SKH Emergency Department and isolation facilities.
Methods
Mass swab and serology operations, health screening, and admission to isolation blocks; partnerships with dormitory operators, SAF, SPF, MOM; teleconsultation services, and education for dormitory workers to mitigate transmission and improve efficiency.
Results
Reduced ED visits, improved management of COVID-positive cases, 13,000 workers managed with no overwhelming of SKH facilities.
Conclusion
Collaborative efforts ensured high standards of care at appropriate sites, conserving resources and enhancing patient and community safety.
Lessons Learnt
Effective communication, teamwork, and clear protocols significantly improve crisis response.
