About this Content
Aims
To estimate prevalence and identify causes of medication non-adherence among young and older adults.
Background
Medication non-adherence among chronic disease patients differs across age groups, requiring targeted solutions.
Methods
Conducted a cross-sectional study with 1,528 participants, analyzing responses on adherence behavior and factors using statistical methods.
Results
Young adults had higher non-adherence rates than older adults, driven by intentional and unintentional causes. Common causes included fear of drug dependence and forgetting medication.
Conclusion
Understanding specific reasons for non-compliance guides tailored interventions to improve adherence.
Lessons Learnt
Tailored interventions based on age-specific causes are essential to address non-adherence.
