Aims
To investigate nursing care needs, nursing workload, and determine direct care nursing staffing.
Background
Nursing shortages and inconsistent workload distribution challenged care quality at the University Medical Center in Ho Chi Minh City.
Methods
Utilized the Workload Indicators of Staffing Need (WISN) method to calculate nurse requirements.
Results
Determined 78 additional nurses were needed to achieve adequate staffing levels for comprehensive patient-centered care.
Conclusion
Implementing a structured staffing model ensured comprehensive care delivery while addressing workload imbalances.
Lessons Learnt
Inter-department collaboration and precise workload measurement methodologies can effectively address staffing shortages.
