About this Content
Aims
Reduce average length of stay (ALOS) post-Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty (UKA) from 3.9 to 2.1 days and improve patient outcomes.
Background
High ALOS post-UKA limited bed availability and increased costs compared to global benchmarks.
Methods
Employed CPIP methodology, PDSA cycles, and multidisciplinary collaboration to redesign workflows and discharge planning.
Results
Achieved ALOS reduction to 2.1 days; saved $4,276.73 per patient; improved discharge processes and patient mobility.
Conclusion
Workflow redesign improved recovery outcomes and enabled faster patient discharges, optimizing resource utilization.
Lessons Learnt
Involving patient perspectives early in planning provides valuable insights for intervention design.
