About this Content
Aims
Develop an Excel-based inventory management system that tracks stock movements, records user entries, and provides data-driven ordering recommendations.
Background
Nursing consumable stores in National University Polyclinics previously used Excel for stock tracking, but manual updates led to lost records, discrepancies, and inefficiencies in stock management.
Methods
Implemented Excel Macros for automated stock tracking, entry logging, and data-driven suggestions. Enhanced system security to prevent tampering and ensured accessibility for clinic teams.
Results
Discrepancies in stock audits reduced by 81% after implementation, improving inventory accuracy and order efficiency. Clinics reported better decision-making and improved tracking of consumables.
Conclusion
The system successfully improved inventory accuracy and reduced wastage. Further enhancements will refine automation features and optimize system performance.
Lessons Learnt
Macro-based solutions require rigorous testing before deployment. Future improvements should focus on usability and reducing complexity in coding.
