About this Content
Aims
Reduce patient wait time by 20% at Care Coordinator (CC) counters while adhering to safe distancing measures.
Background
COVID-19 restrictions highlighted the need to reduce wait times and ensure compliance with safe distancing measures at Marine Parade Polyclinic.
Methods
Three PDSA cycles: PDSA1 collaborated with Pharmacy for Drop-and-Go workflow; PDSA2 implemented workflow changes for all counters during peak hours; PDSA3 assigned specific counters and timings for verification and processing.
Results
Wait time at CC counters reduced by 40%, with no patient waiting over 10 minutes. Staff overtime reduced, and workload leveled across counters.
Conclusion
The Drop-and-Go initiative successfully reduced wait times and enhanced safe distancing compliance, setting the foundation for future workflow improvements.
Lessons Learnt
Workflow changes improve patient experience and safety. Dedicated counters reduce errors, streamline appointments, and referrals.
