Aims
Develop the NDCS I-CARE Communications Model for relationship-centered communication to improve clinician-patient interactions and patient outcomes.
Background
Studies indicated that communication significantly influences patient satisfaction and compliance.
Methods
Developed the I-CARE framework, incorporating eLearning modules and scenario-based workshops using Standardized Patients.
Results
Improved HCAHPS scores for communication domains; increased confidence in applying learned skills.
Conclusion
I-CARE is a replicable communication model for improving clinical relationships and patient satisfaction.
Lessons Learnt
Empathy and engagement-centered training are effective for better communication.
