Background

NTFGH’s inpatient casemix index was the lowest (1.05) among restructured hospitals, reducing potential subvention revenue.

Methods

Root cause analysis identified under-coding and missing clinical details. Solutions included training, real-time coding updates, and piloted documentation workflows.

Results

Casemix index improved to 1.19 at mid-project; anticipated higher subvention revenue supports expanded services and patient care.

Conclusion

Improved documentation accuracy and coding processes led to casemix index increase, boosting revenue and service capacity.

Lessons Learnt

Strong leadership, timely feedback, teamwork, and facilitation by administrators were critical to project success.
