About this Content
Aims
To improve chest pain triaging accuracy and reduce manual intervention through automated appointment booking for specialist care.
Background
Manual appointment booking and inappropriate chest pain referrals cause delays, stress for patients, and unnecessary healthcare utilization.
Methods
Piloted a digital triaging platform at two polyclinics. Implemented risk scoring matrix for referrals and automated appointment booking to NHCS.
Results
75% of appointments were auto-booked; saved 109 man-hours for staff and 400 hours of patient on-site time. Scalable potential of 13,600 man-hours saved annually.
Conclusion
Successfully implemented the first specialist chest pain triaging platform in Singapore, improving efficiency, timeliness, and referral quality.
Lessons Learnt
Data security, integration with systems, and clinician adoption must be addressed; clear communication and stakeholder buy-in are critical.
