Aims
To explore the characteristics and circumstances of falls among older adults in Singapore.
Background
High prevalence of falls among older adults leads to serious complications and long-term sequelae.
Methods
Descriptive cross-sectional study; data collected via surveys from 94 participants across 7 clinics.
Results
Most falls occurred outdoors due to slips/trips (60%) with injuries sustained by 69.2% of fallers.
Conclusion
Insights can guide future fall prevention strategies for older adults.
Lessons Learnt
Address fear of falling by focusing on outdoor activity safety and preventative strategies.
