About this Content
Aims
Magic Wheelz aims to create a future for parents and caregivers which allows them to interact and engage with their child, encouraging and guiding its activities, rather than having to focus their attention on managing the awkward equipment. This creates an environment for the child to flourish and grow, rather than simply manage their conditions.
Lessons Learnt
Children are naturally curious and want to explore. As they explore, they grow and develop. However, for children with complex medical needs, their natural desires to explore and play are limited by the cumbersome medical equipment they are connected to, which restricts their mobility.
Parents are required to lift and carry equipment, and it is usually placed on the ground or a fixed surface, which the child is then required to stay close to. This prevents the child from curiously exploring their surroundings as they are forced to stay close to the equipment.
Not only does this limit their childhood opportunities to play and enjoy the world around them, but it delays and impedes their development.
