Background
The project addresses the need for flexibility and autonomy in modern nursing, responding to challenges such as limited job diversity and staff burnout within traditional care models.
Methods
The project is spread over five phases, aiming for workforce redesign by 2026, including workload prediction, dynamic staff scheduling, modular nursing roles, and care/process redesign.
Results
Outcomes have been promising, with nurses reporting increased flexibility, improved teamwork, timely shift breaks, and reduced burnout. Patient care also benefited with improvements in call bell response times and nursing presence.
Conclusion
The initiative empowers nurses with increased autonomy over their work schedules, boosting productivity and enhancing job value, with promising improvements in attrition rates
Lessons Learnt
The implementation of flexible scheduling positively impacted nurse retention and job satisfaction, with significant time savings in roster management and improved work-life harmony.
