About this Content
Aims
Early recognition of severely injured patients, early activation of specialists, and early intervention. Aim: Initiate definitive intervention within 90 minutes.
Background
KTPH receives an average of 1200 major trauma patients per year, with ~350 classified as Tier 1 (severe/critical). Delays in haemostasis contribute to the lethal triad.
Methods
Lean Six-Sigma (DMAIC) methodology was applied, with automated communication, priority access to resources, and standardized resuscitation protocols.
Results
CHOP reduced mortality rates, improved care efficiency, and optimized trauma management at KTPH.
Conclusion
CHOP successfully improved trauma care. Future efforts include national adoption and refining care pathways.
Lessons Learnt
Standardized care bundles and early intervention improve survival outcomes. The model is adaptable for other healthcare settings.
