Explore the use of VR to encourage communication by reminiscing past experiences and inspiring conversations.
Background
Homebound seniors with limited interactions; innovative ways like VR are explored to keep them engaged.
Methods
Conducted 1,760 hours of VR sessions for 60 clients over 12 months; trained 20 staff to facilitate sessions.
Results
Positive impact on emotions, behavior, social interaction, and cognitive activity; improved engagement between clients and caregivers.
Conclusion
The project introduced VR to the elderly, showing its potential to enhance engagement and interaction; traditional activities retained for others.
Lessons Learnt
VR tailored to elderly needs offers new opportunities but requires addressing discomfort for non-receptive clients.
