Background
Rheumatological diseases are complex and chronic, often without a cure. Despite scientific advancements, many patients continue to face limited treatment options.
Methods
Hosted an awareness and fundraising event, "Swim For Rheumatology," involving swimming laps, patient stories, awareness booths, and partnerships with schools, companies, and national swimmers.
Results
Raised over $240,000 for the Reverie Rheumatology Research Fund, exceeding the $100,000 target. Engaged 128 swimmers who swam 5,256 laps.
Conclusion
The event increased awareness of rheumatological diseases and generated significant funding for research. It also fostered strong community engagement.
Lessons Learnt
Clear communication and collaboration with the community, partners, and healthcare professionals ensured a successful event.
