About this Content
Aims
The aim is to implement a Humanoid-enabled Cognitive Training Programme to increase access to cognitive training for Persons Living with Dementia (PLWD) while optimizing manpower.
Background
Dementia is a progressively deteriorating condition, and individuals with dementia often lack cognitive stimulation, leading to cognitive decline and increased care demands. Existing engagement methods are limited by staffing constraints and lack of technology-enabled interventions.
Methods
The programme was implemented across three ASH sites with support from Goshen Consultancy Services. It involved structured cognitive training using humanoids, staff training, intervention workflow adjustments, and stakeholder collaboration.
Results
After six months, there was a 35% increase in positive engagement and a 45% improvement in cognitive performance among residents. Manhour productivity gain was observed with reduced staff requirements for group activities.
Conclusion
The humanoid-enabled programme shows positive outcomes for residents with dementia, improving engagement and cognitive abilities while optimizing manpower resources.
Lessons Learnt
Targeted cognitive training enables improvements in cognitive function and engagement. Leveraging technology provides personalized and effective cognitive support, highlighting the need for cognitive training competencies within care systems.
