Aims
To achieve a 50% reduction for MRSA Bacteremia rates in TTSH, from median 0.80 per 10,000 patient days in 2022 to 0.40 per 10,000 patient days by 2025.
Background
High percentage of patients with positive status upon admission and significant number of cases attributed to cohort wards led to the selection of Ward 5A as the pilot site.
Methods
Interventions include standardization of decolonization therapy, audits by Scrub the Hub Champions, and MRSA roadshows.
Results
Reduction in MRSA cases and 427 event-free days as of 9 Jul 2025.
Conclusion
The interventions were successful, demonstrating the importance of ongoing commitment to MRSA improvement efforts.
Lessons Learnt
Strong leadership support, regular assessment of interventions, and strict adherence to infection control protocols are crucial.
