About this Content
Aims
To improve the provision rate of therapy assistant led (TA led) sessions from a median of 17% per week to 50% in main TTSH in 6 months, with a stretch goal of 75%.
Background
The provision rate of TA led sessions was low, with a median of 17% per week, indicating less than one case per day.
Methods
Interventions included setting designated TA led slots, reviewing and modifying TA led criteria, and broadcasting criteria to the department.
Results
After interventions, OT time per patient reduced from 129 mins to 77 mins, saving 52 mins per patient. Manpower cost saved per patient was $71.76, with annualized savings of $197,770.56.
Conclusion
The interventions were effective in improving the provision rate and reducing OT time, leading to significant cost savings.
Lessons Learnt
Challenges included competing demands for TA assisted versus TA-led cases, fluctuating TA assist manpower, and learning to entrust non-complex cases to TAs.
