About this Content
Aims
To automate the traditional compliance review process to enable timely grant claims with data analytics.
Background
The National University Health System (NUHS) faces challenges in managing its extensive multi-grantor funded portfolio due to manual and fragmented processes. The CReDA initiative was launched to address these challenges.
Methods
Microsoft Excel was used to develop the automation toolkit due to its accessibility and user-friendly interface. Developers conducted interviews with process owners to gather requirements, tailored the tools to specific needs, conducted testing, and sought feedback for iterative enhancements.
Results
The automation enabled by CReDA significantly improved operational efficiency within NUHS, reducing the time required for grant management processes from up to 30 minutes to less than 5 minutes per grant. It also saved approximately 42 manhours annually for the Research Office.
Conclusion
CReDA offers a tactical solution to the healthcare industry's staffing shortages, fostering long-term workforce sustainability. It demonstrates NUHS's role in efficiently allocating public healthcare resources.
Lessons Learnt
The user-friendly design of the tool facilitated widespread adoption, effectively translating innovative concepts into transformative operational processes.
