Manual billing was prone to missing entries, errors, and required significant rework, leading to lost revenue and inefficiency.
Methods
Integrated CPOE with the billing system; tested in 2 wards; rolled out progressively after training and process fine-tuning.
Results
Billing accuracy improved by 89%; $4.9M annual gross revenue recovered; billing time reduced by 35%.
Conclusion
Automation streamlines billing processes, improves accuracy, and saves resources.
Lessons Learnt
Multidisciplinary collaboration and consistent staff training are essential for system integration success.
