About this Content
Aims
To automate and improve the efficiency of pre-MRI safety screening for patients with Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMD) and Passive Medical Devices (PMD) using Endeavour AI.
Background
MRI procedures pose risks for patients with AIMD/PMD, and a significant portion of these devices remain undeclared by clinicians. Manual screening is time-consuming and inefficient.
Methods
An Implant dashboard using Endeavour AI was developed to automatically flag patients with potential implants by analyzing electronic health records and radiology reports, reducing manual screening time.
Results
The dashboard reduced manual screening time from 400 minutes to under 5 minutes daily, saving $130,350 annually in manpower costs and $38,000 from machine idle time.
Conclusion
The EAI Implant dashboard significantly improved the efficiency of pre-MRI safety screening, enhancing patient care and departmental workflow.
Lessons Learnt
Interdisciplinary collaboration, user-centered design, early engagement, and continuous feedback are crucial for successful implementation.
