Aims
Evaluate the effectiveness of NG Test CARBA 5 in reducing turn-around time (TAT) for detecting CPE.
Background
Timely detection of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE) is critical to limit its spread and ensure timely intervention.
Methods
Implemented NG Test CARBA 5 to detect five carbapenemases; analyzed pre- and post-implementation TAT.
Results
Reporting TAT reduced to Day 0 for 88.5% of cases (previously 73.2% reported on Day 1).
Conclusion
NG Test CARBA 5 significantly reduced reporting time, enhancing infection control efforts and efficiency.
Lessons Learnt
Advances in immunochromatographic tests enable faster, cost-effective detection, improving safety and quality in healthcare.
