High appropriateness of piperacillin-tazobactam and carbapenems use made manual auditing inefficient.
Methods
Implemented an event-driven module within EPIC to prioritize inappropriate antibiotic use for review.
Results
Recommendations increased to 60.6% (from 25.9%), with acceptance rates reaching 65.5%. Time spent on manual reviews reduced.
Conclusion
Event-driven modules enhanced AS pharmacist productivity and improved inappropriate antibiotic identification.
Lessons Learnt
Automation through event-driven processes improves pharmacist efficiency and expands audit capabilities.
