About this Content
Aims
To study endo-phenotyping disease, translational microbiomics, fungal infections, NTM infections, and clinical outcome improvements.
Background
Over 57 million people globally suffer from bronchiectasis, leading to poor quality of life, persistent infections, and economic burden.
Methods
Conducted research into microbiomes, fungi, and non-tuberculous mycobacteria; developed a one-stop service and a wearable intra-nasal device.
Results
Reduced hospitalization rates >50%; published >130 papers (65% in Tier 1 journals); trained new researchers; developed bioinformatics tools.
Conclusion
Achieved transformative results in understanding bronchiectasis, developing tools, and reducing healthcare utilization.
Lessons Learnt
Collaboration, teamwork, and addressing disease heterogeneity through interdisciplinary research are keys to success.
