ICU patients with artificial airways struggle to communicate, causing frustration for both patients and healthcare workers.
Methods
Redesigned communication tools; shared communication tips; conducted trials using Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles.
Results
Communication attempts reduced from 5 to 2; staff saved 52 hours annually, and $7,800 SGD in cost savings.
Conclusion
Communication tools significantly improved patient and staff satisfaction in ICU settings.
Lessons Learnt
Effective data collection and team engagement were critical for project success.
