About this Content
Aims
To improve physical activity (PA) participation in post-MI patients through an additional Virtual Education (VE) session. Target: PA > 764 METmin/week.
Background
Physical activity post-myocardial infarction (MI) reduces cardiovascular mortality. However, conventional CRP sessions had limited individualized education, leading to suboptimal outcomes.
Methods
Conducted 4 PDSA cycles to test virtual education sessions. Adjusted format to 1-on-1, added exercise demonstrations, and implemented follow-ups. PA was measured using Sp2PAQ.
Results
Patients who attended VE showed PA improvement: 872.2 METmin/week vs 358.2 METmin/week in conventional CRP. VE duration stabilized at 30 minutes for first and follow-up sessions.
Conclusion
Virtual education enhanced PA outcomes post-MI, demonstrating scalability and value for CRP programs.
Lessons Learnt
Timely stakeholder feedback and patient-centric adjustments optimized VE. Patient-led sessions encouraged engagement and improved outcomes.
Additional Information
Further evaluation of VE’s long-term impact and behavioral changes is planned.
